We wake up every day, able to add a new page to the book of our lives. We owe it to ourselves to write the best version we can, even if the world feels like it is on fire and under water simultaneously.
As in life and in writing, getting going on the first draft makes all the difference between telling a story from a far-flung time and living it in its entire excruciating glory.
It might not be perfect, but doing the best we can counts.
Nobody writes a bestseller in the first attempt - but it is the attempt that counts. Just the same way, we owe it to ourselves to live with strength and perseverance.
To love with the entire breadth of our hearts and invite grief to sit with us when our hearts break.
To fall apart when the time calls for it and put ourselves together, just the same but slightly different each time.
To live like the best page of our story is yet to be written.

Threat from climate change to some of India’s sacred pilgrimage sites is reshaping religious beliefs. The Kedarnath pilgrimage was suspended in 2022 because of deadly landslides and flooding, but the Indian government has also heavily promoted religious tourism in this area.
Since the 2013 disaster at Kedarnath, more than 800 people have been killed in flash floods in the Char Dham region.
