Three important reminders for today:
Time is cyclical, not linear - we keep making the same choices, with the same disastrous results, ready to blame the rest of the world despite putting ourselves in the same tedious situations until we learn our lesson. Hindus call the freedom from the cyclical nature of birth and rebirth moksh, but the secret is that it feels like heaven when you make the decisions that remove you from toxic situations just as well.
There is nothing more certain in life than death - other things may happen or not happen. Friendships, love, career, babies, retirement money, houses, may happen or not happen for everyone. Death comes for everyone.
Truth and reality are conditional, not absolute - everyone has their version of the truth and reality. There are no absolute truths, only partial, even when you’re right. The truth is multifaceted because it is always tinged with circumstantial opinions.
If you know me already, you know that I live and breathe the intersection of culture and marketing. This caught my attention today:
Illinois is the first state in America to pass a law protecting child influencers and social media stars, making sure they are paid for appearing in videos posted to monetized online platforms like TikTok and YouTube. And if they're not paid, they can sue.
Makes me wonder if the same kind of regulation will see the light of day in other countries, especially in India where the influencer market stands at $108BN and is poised to keep growing at a rapid rate to hit 2,646BN by 2025.
